When it comes to embarking on a spiritual journey, many of us may feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, or we may feel like our spiritual feat has already been tackled. The truth is the spiritual expedition is ongoing. It is filled with constant excavation and growth, allowing even more life fulfillment in many incredible ways. Although embarking on a spiritual journey may be a thrilling undertaking, it can also be difficult to find the time or resources to keep it going; fortunately, women’s retreats can help. A women’s retreat is a great way to learn more about yourself, prioritize your practice of self-care, connect with other like-minded individuals, and introduce yourself to new ways of thinking – it is all about stepping out of your comfort zone. During a retreat, you can participate in workshops, meditate, and participate in activities that will help you grow spiritually. If you’re ready to start your spiritual journey and experience pure abundance, then read on for our 11 steps to start your spiritual journey.

Steps to Start Your Spiritual Journey

Step One: Determine What You Want from a Spiritual Journey

The first step is determining what you want to get out of your spiritual journey. Do you want to learn more about yourself? Connect with your higher power? Have a greater understanding of your next step in your career? Enhance your relationships? Live in financial freedom and UnF*ck Your Money Mindset? Make more lasting connections and friendships? Or simply find some peace and quiet? No matter what drives you to long for more, once you know what you hope to achieve, you can start looking for retreats offering activities and workshops that align with your goals. Remember, these retreats are all about you; it is all about getting the breakthrough you need.

Step Two: Find a Women’s Retreat That Fits Your Needs

There are many types of women’s retreats, so it’s important to find one that fits your needs. If you’re looking for a more intimate experience, some smaller retreats have less than ten people and typically last between two and seven days. These retreats often occur in remote locations, such as beach towns, mountaintops, jungles, or forests, and include various activities, such as yoga, meditation, and hiking. Many offer all-inclusive amenities with options to room alone or with others.  Extensive retreats offer a wider range of activities and workshops if you want a longer or more comprehensive retreat. Either way, it’s important to take a moment to determine how long you will feel comfortable away from home and decide to search for exactly what you are looking for. Listen to your heart and spirit on this one.

Step Three: Set Some Goals

Setting some intentions or goals is important before heading off on your spiritual journey. What do you hope to achieve during your time at the retreat? Are you yearning for a breakthrough? Are you searching for a life shift? Do you want to learn how to meditate? Or maybe you want to improve your yoga practice, go hiking, or participate in excursions to face your fears? Whatever your goals, make sure to write them down so you can refer back to them during your stay and muster the strength needed to achieve them because, ummm…why not?!

Step Four: Pack Your Bags

Are you ready to head out? Not just yet. Now that you know what you want from your spiritual journey and have found the perfect retreat, it’s time to start packing! Most retreats will send out a packing list or preparation email. When packing for a women’s retreat, there are a few things you’ll need to remember. First, pack comfortable clothing that you can move around in. You’ll also want to bring any items that will help you relax, such as yoga mats and journals. Just make sure you pack for the destination. If needed, ask Alexa, check the Weather Channel app, and do what you must to ensure you pack appropriately for the weather. Finally, don’t forget to pack your sunscreen and insect repellent – 9 times out of 10, this will be needed.  Also, refer to your selected retreat informational packet to ensure you bring any special suggested attire. No one wants to be the oddball out because you didn’t thoroughly read the contents. Preparation is everything!

Step Five: Make Travel Arrangements and Arrive at the Retreat Destination

Every retreat includes different things. Workshops may include transportation and meals, or travel to and from the destination may be at the attendee’s expense. The point is that you should be privy to this and make sure you clearly know what you need to do on your own to anticipate additional costs and plan accordingly. We highly suggest you plan way ahead of time. Book the flights, make all necessary arrangements, pack your necessities, and secure childcare so you can position yourself not to worry, be open to restoration and change, and be your best once you arrive at the retreat destination.

When you arrive at the retreat destination, you will, of course, need to check in. Once you’ve checked in, take some time to explore your surroundings and get familiar with the lay of the land. Get acquainted with other attendees, take some time to unpack, and relish that you are here and doing something great for yourself and your future. Cheers!

Step Six: Attend the Opening Ceremony

Don’t miss out on this, friends! Most women’s retreats begin with an opening ceremony. This is typically a short event that includes a welcome from the organizers and an overview of the schedule for the week. This is the beginning of the fun and forward momentum for all. The opening ceremony is also a great time to meet some other attendees, make your original connections, settle in, and prepare for the rest of the retreat festivities. Ready? We are!

Step Seven: Participate in Workshops and Activities

Your active participation will make a difference in the results you will generate during and post-retreat. So don’t waste your time. Be confident. Be yourself. Be social. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in various workshops and activities. These may include yoga classes, meditation sessions, hiking trips, coaching opportunities, dance classes, networking, and much more, pending your selected women’s retreat. We are here to tell you – make sure to take advantage of all the retreat offers and participate in as many activities as possible!

Step Eight: Connect with Other Attendees

Your business bestie, your next client, and your next longtime friend could sit right next to you! One of the best parts about women’s retreats is the opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals. Take time to get to know the other attendees and discover what brought them to the retreat. Make the initial connections, but be authentic in your approach. Get to know people for them and be supportive as each individual embarks on their spiritual journey during the retreat. You may likely be there for the same reason.

Step Nine: Reflect on Your Experience

Towards the end of the retreat, you’ll have some time to reflect on your experience. There may be a closing ceremony, too, where you can ask yourself some questions. What did you learn about yourself? What were your favorite parts of the retreat? What practices or rituals do you want to continue upon returning home.? Bask in talking through this with your new friends – we know you made some! Reflecting on your experience will help you get the most out of your time at the retreat and allow the memorable experience to be a permanent part of your spiritual journey. Consider having a journal or a “phone friend” to share your experience. This is your journey, but it can be shared with others, but only those inclined to genuinely support you.

Step Ten: Set Some Goals for the Future

Don’t let the greatness of the moment pass you by. Everything you are discovering and becoming needs to be a part of your future, too! Your mindset repositioning, the fire in your eyes, and the drive to be more need to be carried onward! So, after you’ve had time to reflect on your experience, it’s time to start thinking about the future. What do you want to achieve when you get home? Do you want to continue practicing yoga or meditation? Do you want to start or scale a business? Or maybe you want to start attending women’s retreats regularly. Whatever your goals may be, make sure to write them down, speak to them aloud, make a step-by-step plan, and refer back to your experience later. This is just the beginning.
